Artist's Description

Since taking this photo I have learned that the gaff rigged schooner in the back has been plying the waters of the San Francisco Bay and elsewhere for over a remarkable hundred years. It's 52ft long, has a cast iron keel and it was built in 1906 by William F. Stone's boatyard in San Francisco. It has been owned and maintained by five generations of the late Bob extended family. During WWII it served our country as a coastal patrol boat at the mouth of the bay. I made this photo while standing at the Torpedo Wharf. Technicals: f5.6, 1/800s, ISO-100, 700mm Optical, 16MP.
