Description
Not just another pretty seascape of the Gloden Gate Bridge. Every picture has a story. When I first got down to the waterfront I was another tourist with a camera. The bay was filled with sailboats and for me it was point, focus and shoot. It wasn't till later when I wanted to know more that I discovered some of the history of the yachts I captured with my camers. The wooden schooner splashing the water in front is named the 'Yankee'. It was t he first sailboat to win the Farallones race and was built in 1906. Behind the Yankee we see Star Class yachts Sail Nbr 7294 skippered by Chuck Beek and 8362 skippered by Danny Cayard. The star class yachts were participating in the Calvin Paige Regatta. This continues the series of photos that I have posted from that special afternoon.

The Golden Gate Bridge always makes such a wonderful back drop for sail boats and you have captured a fabulous scene! Great shot!

Congratulations, Scott! Your superior photograph was chosen to be exhibited on the homepage of THE GALLERY WALL whose theme this week is all about sailing vessels and boats.

Thanks for the compliments. That was a special day for me. My camera was working flawlessly, I was in iconic San Francisco. Weather conditions were perfect. I was able to get a good parking spot near Chrissy field and the bay was filled with yachts. I couldn't believe my luck!
